Marlin Firearms
John M. Marlin, born in 1836, hung the sign for his own line of revolvers and derringers, in 1870. John, along with a team of inventors he was able to attract, developed what is now referred to as the oldest shoulder arm designs in the world, the Model 39 and Model 336. John Marlin died in 1901, with his two kids taking the ropes over. In 1915, during the World War I, the company was bought by a group of New York syndicates.
Business wasn't good, so as the story is told, in 1924, the business was up for auction. The auction was not a huge success, attended only by some curious children, a small dog, and a lawyer named Frank Kenna. Kenna bid $100 for the business and a $100,000 mortgage. The following years he reintroduced many of the pre World War I models and enjoyed stead growth until his death in 1959. Remaining in the Kenna family, Marlin Firearms has continued to seek constant improvements and has been carried on into the 19th-21st centuries.
With a continued dedication to its original principles, you can be assured of Marlin's dependability and long-lasting products that bear the name Marlin.
