FN Herstal

Fabrique Nationale Herstal (FNH) has been the epitome of innovation, quality and dependability for more than 100 years. FN Herstal is most famous for the 7.62x51mm NATO and 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition. In the US FN Herstal is split into two entities. FNH USA located in McLean, Virgina, and FN Manufacturing located in Columbia, South Carolina.

FNH USA, is responsible for the sales, marketing and business of the small arms contracts with the US military, government agencies, law enforcement and also handles the commercial sector. While FN Manufacturing handles the manufacturing of FN and is currently producing M16 rifles, M249 light machine guns, M240 medium machine guns, FN bolt-action rifles and FNH pistols.

  • The British .303 Browning aircraft machine gun introduced in the late 1930s and used in World War II was actually a license-built FN Browning design, not a "Colt-Browning" as often referred-to.
  • John Moses Browning began development of the Browning GP35 'High Power' pistol, the Grande Puissance or "high power" in French. However, the weapon was finalized by Dieudonné Saive and did not appear until nearly a decade after Browning's death.
