FN Herstal M2
FN Herstal is the original designer of the Browning .50 caliber machine guns. Confidential as a machine gun, the M2HB-QCB can be compared to average caliber cannons, as the M2HB-QCB has the capacity of firing explosive incendiary rounds and a full range of ball, tracer, armor piercing, and incendiary cartridges.
| FN Herstal was the first business to suggest a Quick Change Barrel (QCB) system therefore making the end of monotonous and difficult headspace adjustments. The FN QCB system allows the barrel change to be carried out by one man, reduces exposure time to enemy fire and returns the weapon rapidly to |
prepared condition after barrel alteration out. The distinction between the old M2HB edition and the FN Herstal QCB design is comparatively small in terms of exact parts. M2HB machine guns can be changed to QCB versions by the armorer, without complex tools and equipment, in less than 30 minutes per weapon.
The M2HB-QCB takes the responsibility of many roles
- Heavy fire support for the infantry-mounted on the M3 tripod to defeat light armored vehicles, bunkers, buildings, etc.
- Low level air defense-mounted on the M63, to engage low flying aircraft and helicopters.
- Light vehicles external mountings on jeeps, transport and logistics vehicles.
- Armored vehicles-external mountings of all types or armored vehicles.
- Main armament in turrets or as a coaxial machine gun.
- Patrol boats-as the main or as secondary armament
