Glock 19
The Glock 19 is effectively a reduced size of the Glock 17. Glock calls the model 19 a "compact". First introduced in 1988, the Glock 17 was primarily for military and law enforcement use. The Glock 19 is ideal for versatile use through reduced dimension compared with the standard pistol size. Using the proven caliber 9x19, the Glock 19 is found worldwide in security services because of its size making it a great conventional service weapon as well as a concealed carry or backup weapon.
The Glock 19 features a barrel and pistol grip that are shorter than the Glock 17 by about 12 mm. It uses a 15 round magazine, but remains compatible with standard and high-capacity factory magazines. Glock wanted to preserve the operational reliability of the short recoil system, so they kept the same mass for the slide. With the exception of the slide, frame, barrel, locking block, recoil spring, guide rod and slide lock spring, all of the other component are interchangeable with the Glock 17.
