Great, easily strippable gun for the price

I purchased this new with the accessory package to be my first personal handgun, and have been very satisfied with it. I dabbled on the caliber, but the 40 just seemed to be the perfect mix of knockdown with accuracy and distance, especially for a personal protection / weekend shooter gun.
It field strips in about 10 seconds, and is easy to keep clean, perfect choice for someone who is new to guns and gun maintenance. Plus the kit it comes with makes reloading the rather stiff magazines a breeze, and allows you to belt carry your gun and 2 magazines when on the range.
.40 cal ammo is relatively inexpensive, even your local shopping store should carry it, and Springfield has built a quality name for itself. I had no reservations about buying it, and am glad I didn''t opt for a Glock of other polymer gun. I would like to own another XD as a .45 short just for easier carry purposes, and may purchase one sometime later.
Keep in mind that if you want a red dot you have to use your rail, and holsters are few and far between other then the plastic version shipped with the gun I have seen 1 other on the market, and found some generic applications that fit it decently, but not a lot of aftermarket XD specific holsters on the market. Doesn''t really bother me though.

By far the best gun I have ever fired. No problem, accurate, smooth, natural point towards the target, and easy to clean. This is a must buy.
