The new GSG-5 .22 caliber semi-auto rifle from American Tactical Imports is an exact replica of H&K MP5 sub-machine gun aside from the caliber.  Ergonomics  and handling are identical to that of  the MP5 with an overall length of 33.5” and a weight of 6.6 pounds which makes it an ideal training tool for Law Enforcement, Military personnel or civilians. 22 long rifle offers an immense savings over 9mm/40/45 caliber ammunition allowing extensive range time with the GSG-5 at a minimal cost to the user.

Barrel length on the GSG-5 rifle is 16.25 inches including the faux suppressor which surpasses federal requirements  making it legal to own by anyone.  The GSG-5 utilizes either a 22 or 10 rd detachable box magazine that releases with an H&K style paddle magazine release.  The charging handle on the GSG-5 is located on the left side of the receiver and is non-reciprocating just like the H&K MP5 series.

The GSG-5 comes standard with a conventional MP 5 style stock and forend but American Tactical Imports also offers several different style stocks and tactical forends including a side-folding stock like the H&K MP5k-PDW and a retractable stock as offered on the H&K MP5A3.  The GSG-5 comes with a standard H&K style forend but is upgradeable to a tactical railed forend that accepts tactical grips, lights and lasers.

The GSG-5 utilizes the H&K style Drum sight that is windage and elevation adjustable.  Accessories available for the GSG-5 include a claw mount with picatiny rail allowing just about any optic from a tactical or hunting scope to a Close Quarters Battle optic like a red dot sight to be mounted on the receiver.   In addition to extra magazines ATI also offers a tactical magazine coupler for joining 2 magazines together making for a faster reload.   American Tactical Imports also offers an MP5SD style barrel/faux suppressor that looks exactly like the original.  Whether you are looking for a low cost tactical trainer or a fun plinker the GSG-5 rifle is a winning choice.

awesome gun

by: funtyme41

I bought this gun and took it out for target practice. right on target, no misfires, no jams. Even my 16 year old son loves it and he isn't a big gun fan. Might have to go get one for him now for christmas.

very sweet

make a 17hmr in your gun line.

Very Accurate

by: Wolfson741

Bought one a month ago and finally took it to the range. I installed a Harris bipod and a Bushnell Holographic Sight. I rapid fired it at a distance of 50 yards using a ShootNC target 5 1/2" round. All were hits, including seven bullseyes. Using a 7" oval target I shot three nines and thirteen tens. It is unbelievably accurate. Lots of fun!

My new GSG-5 rifle would jam every 8 to 10 rounds. Ichanged from Reminton amunition to Federal and then I went 200 rounds with no jaming.

Shooting any new semi-auto is the same as buying a new street bike! You have to break a new bike in the same as any new semi-auto! Any idiot knows you have to take care of your guns if you want them to work properly! Try spending the money on good quality ammo and oils on this gun and it will work perfect every time! LOVE THIS GUN!!!!!!!!!!

GSG

by: GR8MEDIC

PAID 550 FOR THE RIFLE, LIKED IT SO MUCH I DROVE THREE HOURS TO BUY THE PISTOL. OVERALL I DROPPED 1400 BUCKS ON THE TWO PLINKERS WHICH IS A LOT FOR a working fellow. However ,when you look at them online, your first thought is...that's cool but I bet its cheaply made. once you handle one, you understand this is not the case. they are more substantial than any 22 I have ever seen. and im a huge fan of the ruger also. the 10/22 is cool...but this is a horse of a different color...and a !!!must have!!!

MALFUNCTION

by: OCEAN1

Well, out of the box ran 3 magazines through and 4 out of 22 shots per mag fail to feed. Then installed a Gemtech sbr barrel; now the bolt hold open malfunctioned. The gun looks and feels similar to my real MP5 (NFA item) however I cannot repair the malfunction and need to contact the manufacturer.

GSG5 Rifle

by: Chito

I accidentally found out that the stock butt can be removed by hitting the top portion with the palm of your hand. The space inside the stock can be used for storage. There's a small spring near the ramp that's partly covered by the breech which I think locks the magazine in place. Be careful when cleaning because once you remove the breech this spring is exposed and can fall off if you hit it with a brush.

GSG-5 Rifle

by: sig94

This rifle never worked properly. Misfired alot with brand new Winchester ammo, wouldn't eject, wouldn't feed. Less than 100 rounds through it and it jammed, locked up completely and now must go back for repairs. Piece of crap.

Got one but havent shot it yet.

by: Marines42

If looks could kill, this one would do it! I love the MP-5 look and the idea of .22 cal plinking. I have thought about a suppressor for it (I have one for my M11/9mm smg) and think it would be a great backyard blaster.

GSG-5 Rifle, MP5 Clone in 22LR, with 22 Round Magazine, 16.25" Barrel, Black Finish

by: TG, Loyal Customer

I was happy to buy 2 of the GSG''s when they were in stock. It shoots great and I added the hand grip with laser, and rail with scope. It gets alot of attention and I could have resold both of them already as people have a hard time getting them. TGSCOM is a great company to buy from !

GSG-5

by: Russ

I have purchased the GSG-5 rifle. In 100 rounds it jammed twice but stil a very nice firearm. My grandsons love to shoot it. The overall length is perfect for them. They are 8 and 10 years old. I feel this gun will hold its value.

GSG-5

by: Bart

I read up on the GSG-5 about 2 months ago and decided I wanted one. I then realized getting one is a difficult task to say the least. Last fri I called every gun store in NJ and couldn't find a single one. Finally got a hold of a store in philly that had one left. I promptly left work and made the drive. Next day at the range immediatly everyone stop shooting and stared when I took it out of the case. Put only about 200 rds through not a problem, even when accidently holding the magazine. Just waiting on my rail and red dot....

GSG5

by: C_BASS

WELL I JUST GOT MINE YESTERDAY AFTER WAITING FOREVER FOR THE STORE TO GET THEM BACK IN. I HAVE NOT ONE COMPLAINT I WAS KNOCKING DOWN BOTTLE CAPS AT ABOUT 40YRDS WITH NO PROBLEMS AN NOT ONE JAM. WHERES THE EXTRAS CAN'T WAIT TO PUT A SIGHT ON IT

GSG-5 Rifle and pistol

by: Police Mike

I bought both versions (rifle and pistol) and tricked both out to the max with quality tacticl accessories (be prepared to spend some money). They are both head-turners at the range. The only criticisms are that the quality of the fixed stock (both materials and fit)could be a little better and jams occur if any type of contact is made with the magazine while the weapon is fired. Accuracy was very good; the better the quality of the ammo, the better the groups and fewer the jams. The weapons are heavy, robust for their caliber, and sexy. For the money, they can't be beat.

I AM A RETIRED POLICE OFFICER. LIKE EVERYONE ELSE I NEVER WANTED TO SPEND THE MONEY ON A MP5. WHEN I SEEN THE GSG 5 I SAID LET ME PICK IT UP. IM HAPPY I DID. IT SHOOTS WELL AS LONG AS YOU KEEP IT CLEAN, LIKE ANY GUN. YOU CAN ADD TO IT LIKE A TRANSFORMER. IF YOU LOVE THE MP5 GET THE GSG!

Searched all around for one after checking someones out at the range. Great little gun definately draws attention at the range and even at my local gun shop when I went and picked it up. Shoots nice and accurate. GET ONE!!!

GSG .22 cal. carbine

by: Sarge

Saw it at a gun show in Fremont Ne. and after a week of research,I bought one in Lincoln Ne.. I shot 350 rds. through it at a local indoor range using Remington Peters .22 rounds and had a few jams. It cleared quickly for the next round. I found it to be very accurate at 50 and 75 feet. This is one of the best little rifles I have in my collection. I would like to add-on to it and maybe get the pistol version. Very high quality product and worth the money.

Sweet little Rifle

by: USAF SOCOM

Well, I think it's obvious that this rifle is a hit. After a career with MP5's and M4's, this is the most fun you'll have without a 4 digit price tag, an ATF tax stamp and expensive 9mm/.40/.45 ammo. You won't be taking down AK totin' terrorists with this, but that's not it's purpose. The solid German construction is great in finish, the feel is highly similar to the real McCoy, and it fires/operates well if kept reasonably clean, use decent ammo and keep your paws off the mag when firing. Can be found i some places for as little as $450 or so; some places you'll pay a premium price ($550+) right now, as it's a hot seller. I dare say it's worth the higher price if you enjoy shooting. Not terribly fond of the fixed fake suppressor barrel, but it's an ATF necessity for the rifle. Speaking of our BATF friends, I feel certain this one will be included in a "ban" if B. Hussein Obama pulls off a win. If you want one, get it while you can (along with any other goodies). Join the NRA now and vote in November to protect your 2nd Amendment rights.

GSG-5 Rifle, MP5 Clone in 22LR, with 22 Round Magazine, 16.25" Barrel, Black Finish

by: RF, Loyal Customer

As a 30 year Army veteran with a background of special operations experiance, I enjoyed firing the GSG5. Great for practice of basic & advanced rifle marksmenship, close quarters combat, home defense. The weight and feel very close to the MP5SD. Some problems though. Magazine has open sides which dust and dirt can get into and cause jams. The weapon I fired did jam on occassion or misfired but a quick spray of Break-Free or oil will help reduce the problem. Misfires are a little difficult to clear. Instead of hinged push pins the GSG5 uses screw bolts. This means using a tool to break down the weapon for cleaning. the tool provided is nice but no storage area on the weapon to keep it secured. The flathead screwdriver of the tool kit is cut just a little large for the screw bolts. My leatherman tool fixed that problem.

Great little rifle. Just having fun all day and very inexpensive.

GSG-5 PROBLEMS!!!!!!!

by: just want to shoot

I always wanted a H&K MP5 but like everyone else I don't want to pay for the ammo. Bought this rifle but experienced several problems: 1. The wal-mart ammo (federal) will feed about 10 rounds (22 round mag) w/o a problem but then began misfeeding. The rounds would get half way into the chamber and then get bent by the charging bolt. I wasn't touching the magazine at any point during these problems. Each time I pulled back the charging handle the round would eject but the new round would also misfeed. The barrel ramp in my opinion could have been designed better like my glock. Thinking I should have bought a 10-22.

by: CS, Loyal Customer

THE RIFLE IS GREAT I HAVE HAD MINE FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS NOW AND I LOVE IT IT SHOOTS GREAT, I HAVE PUT PROBABLY AROUND 800-1000 RDS. THRU IT WITH ONLY ONE FTF, I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT THE TACTICAL FOREND AND VERTICAL GRIP HANDLE AND ALSO 2 EXTRA 22 RD. CLIPS AND ALSO A MOUNT AND RED DOT SCOPE IT LOOKS REALLY SWEET IT IS ALSO PRETTY ACCURATE THE FARTHEST I HAVE SHOT IT IS ABOUT 50 YDS. THE BEST GROUP I HAVE GOTTEN SO FAR IS ABOUT AN INCH WITH AVERAGES AROUND 1.5 INCHES, THIS IS A REALLY FUN GUN THAT WORKS GREAT.

awesome gun, fun to shoot, and a must buy.

GSG-5

by: Alabs

I'd give the rifle a 5 on quality of parts build, however with all the misfires and how picky it seems to be with which ammo it fires it's knocked down to a 3. Finally had to settle on non HP rounds. Accurate well up to 100 yards- that is if you're into tagging remote control planes. Only downside now is that I repeatedly get in trouble at the range for emptying mags too quickly and I'd like a sherpa or some illegal from the home depot to reload for me all day. Perfect little brother for my MP5. However with this latest addition i'm running out of space and my closet is bordering on frightening my fiance.

Best 22 foe plinking ever!

by: Theo

Once I found a good scope to mount on it I havn't missed a target yet. It is very reliable, very accurate, and very awesome! I got mine at a local gunshow for $479.00 plus tax and I havn't regreted it at all. I own a much more accurate bolt action but this is so much more fun to shoot. The only problem that I see is that I want higher capacity magazines than 22 rounders. I hate having to reload so often. Excellent buy and worth every penny even at $500.00!

CSG-5 Rifle

by: Dissappointed

I fired exactly 250 rounds of high quality 22 high velocity ammo through my "brand new" rilfe when it started jamming and wouldn't extract the expent rounds. I reloaded, the last magazine, when it fired, the extrator broke. At that point I shipped it back to the mfg. repair facility. It reamained there for a month before I finally got it back, as they were waiting for parts from Germany. After I received it back from the repair facility, I was only able to fire four clips before a repeat of jamming, misfiring, and extrator problems began all over again. I called the repair facility and spoke with the gunsmith who was extremely helpful and very customer oriented (that's why I am giving it three (3) stars. He told me that the manfacturer is aware of the extractor probmen and they were in the process of sending him some new prototypes. Lastly, I discussed with him the problem I incurred with the double magazine holder. When you clamp it in place in the middle of both magazines it contstricts the spring and will not feed the rounds. The trick around this is to clamp the magazines at the lowest possilbe postion so as not to restrict the movement of the spring. I like the gun and service, but I feel the manufacturer needs to do some re-egineering on some of the internal parts, ie., the extractor.

Best 22cal purchase I've made. Performance is unbelievable! Definately recommended for anyone wanting a high performance 22cal weapon!!! Definately 5+ stars :-)

GSG5 Rifle

by: Recondo910

Waited almost two weeks for the rifle to get back in stock at my local gun shop. picked mine up this morning got 500 rounds of good ammo and was shooting within 15 minutes of walking out the door. The accuracy was excellent and all 500 rounds ran through without a single Jam. all i can say is that it was well worth the wait. I have been a police officer for 14 years and served on SRT / SWAT And this is the closest you can come to a real MP5 Without the 1500 dollar price tag. Get em before the Dems go after the EBR'S Again as this one will surely be on the new improved list

by: SP, Loyal Customer

Truly exceptionial practice rifle. Very accurate. Beware you''ll draw a crowd at the range. Only one jam (ammo failure)in the first 300 rounds but it cleared quickly. Accessories are a little scarce but that will change. Buy it you won''t regret it.

GSG-5 Rifle, MP5 Clone in 22LR, with 22 Round Magazine, 16.25" Barrel, Black Finish

by: KR, Loyal Customer

After a Long and Patient wait {NOT Caused by TGSCOM} I received my CSG-5. To use their words as a description: The new GSG-5 .22 caliber semi-auto rifle from American Tactical Imports is an exact replica of H&K MP5 sub-machine-gun aside from the caliber. Ergonomics and handling are identical to that of the MP5 with an overall length of 33.5” and a weight of 6.6 pounds. I must say, it''s on the money! I carried an MP-5 for 10 years in the service and have been on a quest to collect one of every firearm I served with. After researching all options and finding an HK94 {Civilian 9mm version of the MP5} to be priced way out of my retirement pay. I came across the GSG 5 and, with reservations, purchased one. I have to give it high marks! True German craftsmanship! Balance and feel are MP5, with even less recoil, if you can believe that! Range Time: the GSG5 delivers {within the parameters of.22LR}! At 25 yds. and after a couple of "sighter''s" I managed to fire a whole magazine, fast as I could pull the trigger, at a type E silhouette, resulting in one ragged 3 inch hole! Double-taps with one to the head, while moving in on the target, resulted in much the same; two ragged holes! And I am very much out of practice! I''m impressed. It has that "unconscience" feel of an MP! I experienced no malfunctions however it does exhibit a preference for the higher velocity .22 LR brands {i.e. Stingers}. Lesser brands caused no malfunctions in the weapon but lacked in the accuracy dept. My only criticism would be: Something feels "funny" about the placement and rotation of the selector lever. I can''t quite settle on the problem. So, if you are like me and have the fever for an MP5 but can''t find, afford or otherwise acquire one, I recommend the GSG5! This is my gun and my opinion. Your results may vary. But I don''t think you will be disappointed! Ken

GSG 5

by: Bobalou

I saw a guy holding one at a gunshop 15 feet away and thought it was a real HK after previously owning an HK 91 and folding stock 94. I looked it over carefully immediately objecting to the open side 22 round box magazine(thought they did away with those after Henry rifle dirty magazine tube spring problems appeared in 1860's). I negotiated an out the door deal for $500 bucks including 1 extra magazine and told the dealer I'd think it over(he received 5 guns that morning, immediately sold one to a state trooper and had 4 left that afternoon. Next morning I decided to buy after reading reviews and learned dealer had only 1 left! Snatching the last gun I loaded up some Wally World Federal milk carton hollowpoints to give it a go . Gun worked fine and recalling some user complaints of jams while holding magazine as a forward grip or even monopod on a rest, tried that and it still functioned fine. Rear sight is iffy but I managed open sight hits offhand on 50 cent sized steel plate spinner at 80 yards.

GSG 5

by: spikey614

I purchsaed mine about a month ago and only test fired it at the store/range. (1 gun a month thing ) I picked it up today and put a 550rd box Winchester 22 ammo through it without one hick up. I didn't go for groups because it is too much fun shooting it fast. I'll check out groups later. Since you folks here do not have any mags in stock or other accessories. Thats why I gave it a 4. I guess I'll search the web for more. WAY COOL & BIG FUN, Money well spent IMO

Totally Impressed So Far...

by: Kev

Picked up one in Seattle today to take it shooting with the guys. Everyone was impressed. All my buddies have ARs and this was the gun they wanted to play with. Just used the basic stuff today, but plan to put some subsonics through it later this weekend. Did have one FTE, but I'm pretty sure he was holding the mag, which everyone says not to. I checked out the folding stock, but passed and stuck with the basic one. I did by the optics rail, and I'll probably put a red dot on there in the next month or so. Loving it so far. I'll post again after a thousand rounds.

gsg5 p pistol

by: blazing bullet

I bought my gsg5 pistol fri. 8/8/08 took it to the range the next day i shot 600 rounds of cci mini mags thru it with any problems or jams the gun was fun to shoot and it fired no matter how fast i pulled the triger everyone at the range just had to see it and fire it we all loved the gun best "fun" gun ever .

gsg 5

by: copper

bought mine at a gun show a couple days ago and shot 3 mags thru it that night. it was a blast to shoot and the fire that comes out of the barrel at night was way cool. my 6 yr old little boy loves it. im getting a retractable stock for it so he can shoot it from the shoulder.

GSG 5

by: Wally

I bought one used, that was totaly filthy, did even clean just took it out, put 1K of cheap cheap ammo through, some old rusty crap from my grandfathers time, ran it all, i live in a very harsh enviroment and need a gun that can do anything anytime. -20deg in the winter and 100+deg in the summer, very dirty desert conditions. This gun is just as reliable as most AK-47's i have. Got about 5 jackrabbit kills so far, this gun rules the quick on the run tripple tap to stop them in their tracks. BUY ONE NOW do eff around get this gun its works great its short manageable light and fast with a high capacity need i say more.

GSG5P SBR Suppressed

by: Class3-4-ME

I picked up a GSG5-P and promptly sent in a form 1. When the stamp came back I added a Classic Army metal retractable stock and There brugger and thommet clone tri rail forend. then shortened the barrel threaded it 1/2-28 and added my Yankee hill machine 22 wraith suppressor. it runs beautifully with cci subsonic and all other standard velocity ammo. It is almost as much fun as my Real MP5SD. if it had rock and roll and burst I would be in heaven!!!!!!

Still selling like crazy

by: JDW45acp

Local gun shop in Oklahoma finally called a couple of weeks ago and said...you GSG has arrived. Took it home read the manual, cleaned it and shot 500 rounds the next day (cci mini mags). Perfect, not one FTF or FTE! Pretty good for any semi auto! Last week I put my EoTech on it and as fast as I could pull the trigger at 15 & 35 yards all rounds were inside a 5 1/2" Shoot&see target....that is toooo coool! Love it.

GSG-5 / :-D

by: roughrider/spokane

I just purchased mine at a local indoor range, they gave me a free day pass because of my purchase,so I promptly bought 100 rounds of the cheap stuff and a target and gave this new micro-GATzilla a whirl. Out of a hundred rounds,it jammed four times(possibly the cheap ammo),but maintained an amazingly tight group(I should take this thing to the next carnival red star-shoot,I will walk out with all the stuffed animals). I have owned HK 91,94, and 93s over the years and this just fits right in with them,,,just wish the parts would innerchange,,,other than that,,,OUTSTANDING!!

GSG-5

by: Jeff

I love this gun for its reliability and accuracy, It holds a tight group a 200 yds on CCI stinger ammo. I just did its first cleaning at 2000 rds and found out it was easy to disassemble and reassemble. I hope GSG comes out with other great replicas.

GSG-5 Rifle

by: Suspect

I just had my New GSG-5 for about month so far I am very happy with it. I fired four different types of rounds out of it with no issues at all. This weapon worked 100 % without any miss-fires or jams. I would buy this again with out thinking about it.

GSG5 toy

by: POP

What a toy......one that really works.......outstanding....Now, where do we get new items to trick it out with?

GSG-5

by: Col P

Very handy for training in confined spaces since the 22LR requires less Kevlar on walls of cargo containers used to make up mock situation sets. Excellent training weapon for those who use the MP5. Of twenty in use, three had magazine issues after use in the heat due to warpage, since there is nothing holding the magazine together in the centre. Once the magazine issues are corrected we would give this product five stars.

GSG5

by: Tons of fun

Just got mine...after a long wait. Bought a extra mag and 200 rounds of cci mini mags. Perect. no fiss feeds or jams! Can't wait for my sliding stock, picatinny rail, scope mount, and mag coupler. Great addition to my collection!

Great Gun

by: Curt

I just back from the range with my new GSG-5. I fired 200 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag High Velocity ammo, and this weapon worked 100 % of the time. No miss-fires or jams, and it held a nice tight groop at 50 feet. As a Police Officer with a lot of trigger time behind a H&K MP-5, I think the GSG-5 is as much fun to shoot...and a lot cheaper. The 200 rouns of CCI ammo cost $ 11.00. No way you can fire 200 rounds of 9mm for eleven bucks.... The only thing I don't like about the GSG-5 is the rear stock. the plastic is not very solid, but I see there are several after market stocks that look stout. The price of the gun was $ 469.00 plus tax, a little high for a 22. Over all I love my new GSG-5 and can tell it will bring me several years of fun and cheep shooting. Guess I need to save up for a few extra mags and a folding stock.

gsg 5 pistol

by: doc

bought a gsg5 pistol 3rd of july man it is cool came with a 10 rd mag called local gun shop they had one 22 rounder got it going to range tomoroe hope it shots as good as the riffle

perm attached fake supressor is lame

by: spike

If they had forgot the permanantly attached fake supressor to meet the 16" barrel length requirement, and used a real, (slimmer), real 16" barrel, I would have bought a couple. For the wannabes, they still could have offered a slip-on fake.

by: brutal bud

This is a great little plinker.I have had no problems as long as you use high velocity ammo it functions perfect.

GSG-5 just like the MP5 SD

by: CCW fan

I carried and qualified with the MP-5 SD in 9mm for many years, and it was a wonderful weapon to fire. I first bought an M-4, and got the .22 conversion kit to fire inexpensive ammo in it. Didn't work all that well. Now, with the GSG-5, we can have the fun of shooting the MP-5 without it costing an arm and a leg. Sure, we don't have the full-auto and 3-shot burst that the real MP-5 had, but this has everything else. The weapon was quite accurate right of the box, and functioned flawlessly with both standard Remington and Winchester high-velocity .22 ammo as well as Stingers and Winchester Super-X .22s. It was well worth the 3 month wait, and for a fun, functional .22 that looks awesome, it can't be beat.

GSG 5 Rocks

by: CT

I went into the gun store to look at trap shooting guns, saw the GSG5 and thought it was an MP 5 HK asked the guy to look at it and realized it was a .22 and thought this is cool, paid almost 600 for it(didnt know they were only supposed to cost around 500) took it immediately to the range and fired 500 rounds flawlessley through it,this is an awsome little gun,it is like the Honda S2000 of guns, high quality, great performance, reasonable price, even at the higher price i paid.i w
